The Lagos state Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, has retracted his earlier statement that confirmed that the body recovered earlier today in the Lagoon is that of the 35 year old medical doctor, Allwell Oji, who committed suicide by jumping off the 3rd mainland bridge on Sunday March 19th.

In an exclusive chat with LIB this afternoon, the state police commissioner, Fatai Owoseni, who had initially today, told newsmen that the body found at Onikan area was that of the medical doctor, said the family members and driver have come forward to identify the body and have said that the recovered body isn't that of Allwell.
"The body was seen within the search area where the marine police was searching and when we looked at it together with the driver and some certain family members, he said that was not the body of his boss"he said
Also speaking to LIB, the spokesperson for Zone 2 police command, SP Dolapo Badmus, told LIB said the police would continue in its effort to recover the body of the medial doctor
"A body was recovered from the ocean by the marine police but the family has come and they have said that is not their son we cannot identify the body as the doctor. So that is not the body of the doctor"she said
Owoseni added that the photo of the body recovered in the ocean today would be released to the public for identification as the police has no other reported case of any person who might have drowned in the lagoon.
